It all starts with Derek joining the ward's softball team. While jumping up to catch a ball Derek hears a loud pop and just like that his knee, which has been bothering him since a snowboarding crash that happened at the beginning of the year, has been ruined. (obviously this is my take on the story)
So then I insist that we go to the hospital.

Not pictured:
derek goes to see an surgeon to find out if he has to have surgery.
he has to have surgery...two days later.
which brings us to...
Surgery prep:
Derek had to wear these "ted hose" on both legs for a week after surgery. After coming out of surgery the nurse told derek that he had to wear these for a while but that he didn't want to see him on a corner in dowtown flag some evening still wearing them. Derek didn't laugh, but I did.

Right after surgery...well, like 30 minutes after sugery when they let me come see him. He was shivering really badly so they got him under control before they got me. (he asked me to take pictures)
The nurse and I were telling Derek that he looked just like a little maiden....

Side note - we drive to Snowflake for a family reunion a few hours later.
Not the smartest decision ever, but we love our family

Fast forward to seven days later. We unwrap the bandage only to find out that they TOTALLY MISSED THE MARK!
(just kidding...they had derek mark the right knee before surgery so that they get the right leg)

Little puffy knee!

i have just been informed that she does indeed know the before mentioned Jacob. you are correct, a very small world indeed. looks like you and the significant other are doing quite well. well except for that whole knee thing, but other than that, quite well. that's good to see
Why'd you take a picture of the bandages? Grosso. Hey, little puffy kneeeeee. The part about the maiden made me laugh.
Kacie you are hilarious! I love your posts and your writing. I'm with Kelly on the grosso pic of the bandages. I'm glad it's over with and hopefully it'll continue healing to 100%
