Grasshopper Pie

Can you see anything hiding in these leaves?Take a closer look:

This crazy creature was found IN OUR BEDROOM the other day.
I heard a strange velociraptor-like noise in the middle of the night that woke me up. (I would hate for a velociraptor to eat my child) After listening for a while and not hearing anything I went back to sleep. Early in the morning I woke to Derek saying "What is this!" In a rather alarmed voice. I groggily tried to focus on what he was looking at and got up to see this giant green leaf-like creature. I then did the natural thing to do and placed a cup over him (that derek had kindly punched a breathing hole into) slid a piece of paper underneath and taped the cup to the paper to hold the bug for further questioning.

Later my mom and I took his mug shots to document his size and color then released him onto an Aspen tree which made us realize that he is perfectly designed to be camouflaged in.
also note his mouse-sized poop also pictured on the paper

So what IS this thing with velociraptor-like noises and proportions?
Well I googled "giant green leaf grasshopper thing" and found out that he is probably a Sasuma grasshopper with great capabilities:
"The largest of the grasshopper species with its remarkable leaf-like wings that serves as camouflage in a world full of predators. When the camouflage fails to work, a grasshoppers can still leap 20 times the length of its own body to aid in its escape. Amazingly, the peak acceleration force during take-off of a grasshopper jump approaches 20 G's, the same g-force would invariably squash a human."
And for only $89.29 you can buy a framed version for your own home
...very odd

What the...Lukas and I found one of these last night and we were like what the CRAP is it. We caught it and then let it free in our house and it tried to attack me. We thought it was a leaf bug after realizing it didn't look much like a praying mantis or a grasshopper. Now we know exactly what it is! THANKS. :)

It's a katydid. I would know, that's my nickname from my childhood. Just put "katydid" in the google image search, and your bug pops up.
